The 2026 TikTok Posting Report
Twenty-one posting rules tested against 23 million TikTok videos and 13.3 trillion views. Most of them are myths - and the few real levers aren't where the industry points.

13.3 trillion views across 35 years of footage. If every view lasted just one second, they'd add up to 420,000 years - longer than Homo sapiens has existed. If every view ran to the end of its video: 21.7 million years. Every claim is a within-creator comparison: each video is scored only against the same account's other posts, so audience size, loyalty, and niche never enter the comparison. "pp" = percentile points on that 0-100 scale.
How to read a "spot" - in views
Every number here is a spot: where a post lands among that same creator's own videos, from 0 to 100. Spots are the honest unit - each post is judged only against that same account's other posts, so the method doesn't care whether you have 500 followers or 5 million. But a spot doesn't convert to views in a straight line: a creator's catalog is jackpot-shaped, and the quieter the account's typical post, the steeper that jackpot. Measured against your own median post:
So near the middle, where most posts live, +4 spots ≈ +14% more views, +10 ≈ +42%, +20 ≈ double. That's the conversion - every headline below is quoted in spots with its view-equivalent alongside.

You have the corpus, the method, and how to read a spot. Here is what the rest of the report covers:
- The scoreboard. All 21 rules, their verdicts and the number behind each one, in a single table.
- Part I · The calendar myths. The flatline, the 0.007%, the 24,991 personal "best hours" tested out of sample, the scheduler myth, weekends by niche, and the mega-account exception.
- Part II · The volume and rhythm myths. Spacing, posts per day and the portfolio math behind them, bursts, breaks, momentum after a hit, and the lottery quantified.
- Part III · The format levers. Duration, slideshows, slide count, captions, staying in your lane, and the upload checklist.
- Part IV · The account facts. Followers against reach, the 200-view jail, how much of TikTok is posted by software, what a million deleted videos say, the four engagement buttons raced against each other, and ghost hits.
- Part V · What we could not test, stated plainly, with the reason for each.
- Part VI · What actually matters. Content and timing measured head to head, and what to do about it in order.
Roughly 6,000 words with every table and figure, plus the method notes and the confidence intervals.
